Gratitude 1/6/07

* The weather was unseasonably warm and all the snow has melted.

* Don and I went for a nice walk around the neighborhood.

* I got all my laundry finished.

* I got Don to organize and clean out his drawers so we can take clothes to donate.

* I got almost all my papers graded and progress reports are finished. My goal is to keep up and be ahead for report cards.

* I'm grateful I got caught up on my Simple Abundance book today and it was an interesting read. It made sense what I read and that if things are not in order it's difficult to be able to look inward. It's more than just that but I'm not doing the entry justice but it made sense to me.

* I really think that I'm ready to go back to work.

1/5/08 gratitude

* Brian being home all day and not one complaint.

* Good friends who we can go out with and have fun with although some of us have moved away from the old neighborhood.

* 15 years of friendship with these people.

* Don who accepts the fact that I enjoy letting my hair down and didn't appear to mind that I had 11 martinis!

* The weather is warm for January in Chicagoland and almost all the snow melted.

Day late and a $1.00 short

I guess that will be the theme of today. I didn't read my Simple Abundance entry and forgot to journal my gratitude. I figure it is still early enough that I can still remember what was good about yesterday.

* The house was quite until after 1:00 pm.

* So glad there is so much information online because I was able to look up a bunch of reviews of cruise ships.

* Brian cleaned and straightened up his room until about 15 minutes before he left to see a movie.

* Brian was polite when he called me back even apologizing saying I'm sorry I missed your call and then thanked me for being the pick up person. Said thanks in front of his friend who then in turn also said thank you. Major for 15 year old high school boys!

* I found a new scrapbook store and the owner was very outgoing, and talked to me while shopping and was even kind enough to give me two pieces of thick chipboard for my new 365 work in progress album.

* I went and spent the evening with my girlfriend Marybeth who is recovering from surgery and she told me the good news that the test results were excellent!

Overall I felt it was a nice, relaxing day. I know life will change after this weekend with going back to school, but I think these past two weeks laying low was a nice relaxing vacation.

1/3/08 Gratitude

They say that after 30 days something that you do each day becomes habit. I hope that is what happens for my daily gratitude blogging.

Today was cold; a shiver you to the bones cold. Am I grateful for that, well not so much but I am grateful that it was sunny and bright today.

* I am grateful that I was able to go and get a really short, chic haircut and color and that color can cover up all my grays.

* I am grateful that Doug and I went to lunch today and got to spend just a small amount of time together before my vacation ends.

* I am grateful that I'm still appreciating my icicle lights and snowflake decorations as much as I did the day we put them up.

* I am grateful my mom called and asked if I'd rather set sail from London or Copenhagen. :D Big cheesy grin here!

* I am grateful I'm starting to feel rejuvenated about going back to school.

One Little Word

Does this let you know my one little word?? Yes, I've decided to choose Believe. I know this will help me focus on my relationship with God. It will help me believe in myself, and I know it will also help me in teaching. I often hear from my son, "no one ever believes me." I hope this will help me look at him in a more honest way. It's just a great word and it found me rather than me finding it. I think that is what I was looking for.

Did anyone else pick one little word??

Don't shoot me, I know I've updated both blogs with identical information. I'm lame ok so what. It's my blog and I'll blog how I want to!

1/2/08

Today's gratitude is a half a list until I come back later and finish

* That I started the undertaking of cleaning out and organizing Brian's bedroom. A SERIOUS undertaking here. I think the kid has about 14 loads of laundry. All the drawers are empty and he'll go through the clothes to determine what doesn't fit so I can take them and donate them.

* The sun is shining on this beautifully figid day. It makes the snow look sparkly and beautiful. Glad I could stay inside and get things done.

* I got Don to go with me to the mall and out for dinner.

* Doug had a friend (a very cute girl) from college come over and hang out and you could see that he was truly happy and comfortable (not embarassed to have her at home.

* We found the dog food on sale and we got the BIG 32 pound bag so we're not running out so often and the rugs for the kitchen to catch the snowy wet shoes were $1.99 each! Cereal was on sale too!

* Brian and I worked on his room and got it partially organized and we didn't fight or argue.

* We splurged and bought 2 goldfish. LOL they cost us a total of $1.07! They were the 15 cent feeder gold fish, ;)~ but they're fun to watch.

Gratitude 1/1/08

Today I am grateful for:

*A warm house to come to when I came home from errands in the snow and cold.

*The fact that Biggest Loser started again AND I acutally got out my exercise ball and mini weights and did some arm exercises.

*My mom made pork ribs and sauerkrat for New Years AND gave me a bowl to bring home and eat.

*That Brian is seeing that one friend may not be the good friend he truly thought he was and that he made the decision not to answer the phone when the boy called.

*The snow plow just came down my street to salt 3 times to keep my road in good driving condition.

New Year, New blog

I thought about starting fresh and new, so I did! This isn't my "regular" blog, this is my new "I want to slow down and reflect" blog. This is where I might post the things I'm grateful for. This might be where I try to complete a 365 photo of the day challenge. It might just fall apart and be nothing, but today it is something. It is the place that today looks plain and ordinary but hopefully soon it will be a special place that I enjoy coming to.
